Is it a good idea for someone with schizophrenia to get married. The guy in question is 33 years old.? |
He is largely supported by the family. But also has a small business that is largely run by his father. The father may not be there forver. On the medical front he takes medicine and is normal otherwise. He is partially dependent for finances. he is very complaint to medicine. Takes it regulraly. another point... This is India.... where marraiges have to be arranged... one has to find a bride...but at the same time he is keen on this as he feels he needs a companion and deserves to get married like others!!! If he is faithful in taking his medication there is no reason why he should not marry. Good luck! G.G. The question should be from the woman. Are you willing to take on someone who, without medication would be subject to paranoia, hearing voices, delusions, and the other symptoms that might be presented? Only someone who has studied the disease, and fully understands what life would be like married to a man with this illness should take on such a risky relationship. But if they are willing to do so, then good luck to them. It will be a difficult life, and they will both need considerable support from their extended family. Well some people in my country that were mental doctors analized a famous person called " Jesus" some people know him as the son of God, some as a prophet. They analized his writings from the Bible. Conclusion they said he had schizophrenia. Some people never understood him. Now some people say he never got married , others say he did get married. Fact is this, Jesus did the right things in life. As long as this man who has this mental illness does the right things in life and does not hurt anyone. he deserves the right to be loved and to love someone. As long as his bride is aware of this mental illness and accepts him and loves him. If his wife understands the illness & how to treat it, ther's a good chance the marriage will be OK. But she will need somebody to watch her personal stress levels as schizophrenics can be extremely wearing. There's a 10% chance any children from the family might also develop schizophrenia (normal risk is 1%). national schizophrenia fellowship (UK) First explain everything to bride, she should be capable of masnaging everything in his abscence ( when he has sudden attack and his mental status is poor to handle buisness) there are chances that their kids may get schizophrenia Yes he could get married. He need to be RESPONSIBLE and TAKE HIS MEDICATIONS ALL THE TIME. What he has will NOT EVER GO AWAY. |
