Psychologists: if i have ocd, will i develop schizophrenia?

i know i have obsessive thoughts. i am afraid they will develop into schizo., ichecked online and there is a connection. is it possible, that i might have it? i am practically 18 by the way.

you are able to develop schizophrenia but not because of ocd. Those two i guess 'diseases' are located in two different parts of the brain. It is almost impossible for them to coexist; so you most likely; 99% sure you wont develop it.
I have never heard of it developing into schizo, i dont think they are related, but im no psychiatrist
these are two entirely different problems and they only coincidently come together. Your ocd is just a stupid thing and you can work on it and have some control. I have ocd and it makes me mad because I know im doing these repititious things but cant stop..it always gets worse under stress..so i just call it a stupid thing and observe it as a "thing" and do my best to work around it.The schiz. problem is a chemical imbalance in your brain so i was told
No, schizophrenia involves symptoms that are completely unrelated to OCD, for example hallucinations and jumbled thinking.
No, but you will probably keep obsessing about it until you take enough medication to get your OCD under control. Good Luck.
