Is there any way to test for bipolar and schizophrenia? |
is there any medical way to test for bipolar and skitsofrania? Yes...........it is a psychological evaluation. This must be done by psychiatrist\psychologists. There are common traits medical doctors can detect, but trained professionals in the field give the final prognosis. there are brain scans but they are RARELY done... like usually only in studies and what not... but sometimes if the doctor is having a real hard time diagnosing you with one or the other then he might order one..... but in general the doctor's are going to choose your diagnosis based on what you tell them...and perhaps psychological tests...and of course by observing you..... Not really, you should see a professional if you think you may have this problem. Ck on the internet to see the sypmtoms and if you have many of them, get ckd out first go to webmd.com and ascess your symptoms.......if they sound familir get a referal to psycistrist Do you keep all the kitchen knives in a secluded place? That is a pretty good sign.LOL!! Having attended a mental health facility in my life, I can only say that testing for bipolar (I'm not familiar with schizophrenia) is really not the right term. A medical doctor specializing in mental disorders can assess a person usually by the way they behave. You do all the talking in the session, and they do the listening. A person who truly has a disorder(mine happens to be bipolar) wants help so they will not fudge. Bipolar patients usually are depressed first, and then will begin to talk very fast, make decisions without thinking, and also are very impulsive. These are just to name a few. I did know a guy who was a schizophrenic, and when he went without medication it was a scary situation. I believe they hear, and see things that are not really real, but they perceive them to be. Bipolars also must take medication to stabalize their mood swings. My source is myself from personal experience. |
