Can a Mental Disorder go away (ex: Anxiety,Depression, schizophrenia etc)? |
I want to know if my relative will ever be normal again. He has so type of mental problem and he will be seeing a doctor tomorrow. Schizophrenia does not go away, but can be managed. Depression can lift and be treated. Anxiety can be treated and can lessen as you age. It really depends on the diagnosis. Regardless, still have hope, love, and light to offer the individual if you are able. God Bless.NO you need medications As a rule, most mental disorders don't simply go away, but most can be controlled with either therapy and/or medication. I wish him lots of luck. Anxiety and depression can go away ,you get any deeper schizo etc and no.They can be controlled. It depends on what the psychiatric condition is. Chances are that it will never "go away" completely, but can be treated with medications and therapy. There is still a lot to be learned in the world of psychiatry, the brain is the most complicated part of the human body and the most difficult to cure. Therapy is imperative to whatever the condition is. Some disorders are caused by learned behavior, some have genetic influences, some people get them and you never know why. Without knowing more about the problem, all I can say is that he can improve and will be able to live a normal, functional, and productive life. As far as being who he was before, no one is really ever the same after any event in their life. With support and the help from professionals, your relative will return to being the same, if not a better, person than before. My diagnosis is schizophrenia with depression and anxiety. With medication, Abilify, Wellbutrin and Zoloft, I presently have no symptoms of any of these. I'm on Social Security Disability so I don't have to work. Medicare pays the $600 per month for my Abilify, or I would still be sick. With medication, a person with a mental disorder can live a normal and happy life, although these illnesses will never go away. I will have to be on medication the rest of my life. |
