How do u know if someone in your life has Schizophrenia?

I really need help out there. My ex hus. and I share custody of our 4 yr old. I'm starting to worry that she's starting to go though what I did when I was married to him. I'll explain very briefly some of his behaviors because I'm thinking of trying to get full physical custody of her for her benefit. I'm really scared, so please help anyone if you have any advise! He is so paranoid. He hangs on minor details in discussions or words people might say to form his own sense of logic of what actually happened or what is intended..as if everyone is against him, trying to hurt him, or abuse him. The reality he is an extremely agressive individual. I was scared out of my mind of him until very recently. He had me convinced that I was the worst person in the world and that I was bad. That's the way he sees people as being bad and he has to punish them. He isn't capable of taking care of his financial needs or organize his life. Some of his behavior is absolutely suprizing in a bad way.

I don't think we could diagnose him as schizophrenic, but it does sound like he has some serious problems. You can ask the court that he undergo a psychotic evaluation, you'll need to tell why. Your child's welfare must be your primary reason for this action, and not to get even as some Judges and or Lawyers will have this as their first reaction. Good Luck!Document everything you can. Sign and date it. If you have a witness have them do so as well. Source(s): I worked as a counselor in an abused womens shelter for several years,
it boggles me WHY women have kids with the worst men and then complain later about him bein crazy. you don't say! if he is this way now - he had to have shown signs of instability earlier. u should consult ur lawyer on what steps u can take if you want to prove or have him tested to be mentally instable, my God. after that look into getting custody of your child, don't wait if he is unstable you certainly don't want to risk your child's safety.
common sense
I'm not sure if it would be schizophrenia that he has. It sounds like border line personlity disorder. My ex was exactly the same. He would only hear things he wanted to hear, twist it around to his liking, and rant and rave from it. He was sort of like stuck in time. The mentality of a teen. He also cannot take care of himself, has always had someone to live with ..mother,father,girlfriend. He would get really mad, blow up on someone, to include beating someone up or not sometimes, then feel bad after. Then..do it again. This same pattern has been repeated a million times..he still does it. He's extremely insecure...thinks everyone thinks they are better than him. He is very verbally abusive. Making everyone around him miserable. And they have to constantly appease him. Make him feel better about things. I worried about my daughter too. But...the only thing was he would never do anything or say anything negative to her. He truly loves her.And she's now 19. She does not , however, respect him one bit. She sees how he treats everyone else. And she can't stand it. My advise to you would be to see how he is with her. Pray that he will get help..which my ex never ...ever did. He would never admit that he has borderline personality. Just watch how he is with her. If he is verbally abusive with her one tiny bit. Go for full custody. Believe me..you will save her alot of heartache in the long run.

IGNORE Jack C up there...he sound like he's got some problems of his own, also, ppl in here will be acting like your not so smart for getting involved with him...ignore them too...IF THEY"VE NEVER LIVED IT...THEY DONT HAVE A CLUE ! its not your fault he's like that...believe me..they don't show their true selves ..until much later.
When they say, "Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm a schizo and so am I.
