I have had chronic sinusinitis (sinus infections) for over a year now.. I never get the flu or anything else, just sinus infections! I have never been to an ENT, so my question is.. What questions should I ask, and what can I expect? If you are diagnosed with chronic sinusitis by your ENT, your doctor may want to know how long you've had the problem, your symptoms, how it's been treated in the past, what antibiotics were used and how effective they were and if you've been under the care of an allergist. You may have imaging done, possibly a CT. For now you don't ask questions, you just listen and answer questions. Your ENT will determine a plan of treatment based on your history and current findings. If she/he decides that a surgical procedure is the best way to go, ask questions. You should know the name of the specific procedure, the risks and benefits involved, recovery time and alternative treatments. You also need to know what you should do to prepare before and after. When to come back for your postop follow up. |
