Is it really sinusitis?? |
2 weeks ago i went to the dentist with ear ache tender face and tooth ache, they sent me away with anti biotics saying it was sinusitis. It started that i was in pain in my ear cheek nose and teeth when i lay down or tilted my head. I have since seen my doc twice and said my ear was inflamed inside and gave me strong pain killers. It has now got worse, i am in pain all the time in my nose and roof of mouth and teeth. The only thing that helps is swilling with cold water. I dont have a temp, i do not have snot and i do not have a head ache. does this sound like sinusits to you should i go back to the dentist or the doc, i am in pain all the time now??? i foprgot to say i cant eat as hor food trigures the pain and so does chewing This could be sinusitis, but you have not indicated if they took X-Rays or other imaging. Prior to the use of CT and MRI we used plain X-Rays of the sinuses to look for thickened sinus mucosa and a fluid retention in the sinuses. This worked for acute sinusitis, but for chronic sinus infection a simple 3 slice CT of the sinus will confirm the diagnosis. Without imaging studies, there is no way to be positive about the diagnosis. I know it seems strange, but I think it is sinusitis. The sinuses can cause immense pain all about the face and ears. There are large sinuses just above your teeth which may make it feel like tooth ache. I have had a bout of sinusitis without the mucous. Make an appt with an ear, nose, and throat doctor (Otolaryngologist). This sort of thing is their speciality. You should get a referral to an ENT and obtain a CT of the sinuses to disprove or prove sinusitis. Simple 10 minute test will prove one way or the other. Yep definately sounds like sinus infection affect nose/cheeks/teeth/ears suffer with it myself :-( but sounds like you need more anti-biotics suggest make another appointment with GP and good luck Visit a shaman. They know it better! |
