How do i deal with chronic sinusitis?

How do i deal with chronic sinusitis?

Depending on the cause of your chronic sinusitis, and the symptoms you experience, you have several different treatment options.

According to the Mayo Clinic, here are the more common causes of chronic sinusitis:
- Allergies
- Respiratory Tract Infections
- Nasal or Sinus Obstructions
- Other medical conditions (e.g. cystic fibrosis, HIV and other immunodeficiency diseases
- Trauma to the face
- Mold in the sinuses
- Airborne fungus

To identify the cause of your symptoms, your doctor (usually an allergist or an ear, nose and throat specialist) will run tests that may include:
- Imaging of your sinuses to assess inflammation or obstruction
- Nasal endoscopy
- Nasal and/or sinus cultures to identify causative bacteria
- Allergy test

Depending on the cause your doctor identifies, there are several possible treatments:
- Antibiotics (if the cause is bacterial infection)
- Corticosteroids (to reduce inflammation)
- Decongestants & antihistamines (to dry up excess mucus)
- Moisture & humidification (flush the nasal cavity with saline or install misters/humidifiers to promote drainage - the earlier suggestion of inhaling steam from the sink may promote the same response)
- Immunotherapy (if the cause is allergies)

In severe cases that don't respond to these treatments, sinus surgery may be an option, as may balloon rhinoplasty.

acupuncture

hi,i suffer on and off with the same, but no where near now as bad.

i suffered with sinusitus really bad,but no more.I suggest you take a good source of beta carotene, which is a natural form of vit A,also a odorless good garlic supplement, high potency, this works as a good blood cleanser, and helps reduce mucus.
Also when you go to bed leave a window slightly open, and also try cutting out diary products,as they are often the cause of nasal, and sinus conjestion.
Finally fill your sink with hot steamy water, put a few drops of eucaliptus oil in, or olbas oil,get a big towel put it over your head bend over the hot water and inhale the vapors, good luck!

It is best to see an ear, nose, and throat specialist. The best treatments consist of antihistamines, decongestants, and antibiotics. But these medications should be administered under close supervision of a doctor. For instance, antibiotics can do more harm than good for certain individuals, and only the doctor would be in the best position to make proper decisions.
