What does a doctor means when something is unremarkable? What is chronic sinusitis with cysts in brain?

When the laboratory reports or procedures state that the results are unremarkable; it means that they are within normal limits. Or if there are any abnormalities, there are minute to be taken seriously.

Chronic sinusitis begins with an inflammation of the mucous membranes in your sinuses 鈥?the air-filled passages around your nose and throat. The inflammation causes fluid buildup eventually plugging the sinus cavity and preventing normal mucus drainage.

Sinusitis is caused by an inflammation or infection of one or all of your four para-nasal sinuses (hollow cavities of the bones of the skull around the nose and behind the eyes). In sinusitis, the ethmoid sinuses are usually the ones involved.

Chronic sinusitis can be a miserable condition that significantly impairs your quality of life. If you have chronic sinusitis, you may have difficulty breathing through the nose, experience frequent headaches and tenderness in the face or aching behind the eyes. You may also have frequent yellow or greenish discharge from your nose or drainage down the back of your throat. called post -nasal drip.

Sinusitis is usually due to allergies or infection. When sinusitis keeps coming back or continues for a long period of time, it is considered chronic. Causes of chronic sinusitis include a deviated nasal septum or other blockage of the nose that can trap fluid in a sinus. Dental infections such as tooth abscess may spread into the sinus and also lead to chronic sinusitis. Allergy to the aspergillus species of fungus appears to cause a particularly difficult-to-treat form of chronic sinusitis. Asthma can be another cause.

Most cases of sinusitis are acute, meaning they resolve in less than four weeks. However, when the condition recurs or endures longer than 12 consecutive weeks, you've developed a case of chronic sinusitis

About 20% of patients with chronic sinusitis may develop nasal polyps. Nasal polyps are cyst-like growths that develop from sinus tissue. The resulting growth can cause the sinus cavities to become blocked, which causes even more problems.

Possible Complications

Chronic sinusitis comes back
Infection spreads to the bones of the face (osteomyelitis)
Infection spreads to the brain (meningitis)
Abscess forms, including (rarely) brain abscess

Another major cause for chronic sinusitis is cysts or nasal polyps in the sinuses esp in the ethmoid.. In my case, I had a deviatd septum and nasal polyps or cysts as they are called. I underwent surgery to have these diffused nasal polyps excised; ; as I was constantly plagued with chronic sinusitis.
