Sinusitis and 15 weeks pregnant anything safe to take???? |
I woke up a couple of mornings ago with really bad sinus issues. They hurt and are swollen. hello, well I had two high risk pregnancies with top doctors from Houston texas and both times I got a bad sinus infection. The only thing they told me I could take was plain sudafed. The little red pills . They are behind the pharamacy counter now, the ones over the counter are not safe as they have been reformulated. The generic brands are ok just make sure it is only sudafed ingedient and no add ons. Vapor-plugs are great and saline nose sprays shrink the tissue and allow sinus to drain. Most docs give amoxil if it is an infection. Also great is a bowl filled with very hot water and a little salt cover your head with a towel and place over bowl to breath in steam for ten minutes a session. When I was Prego the doc let me take Sudafed. I don't know if that will help you because it sound like you have an sinus infection if your blowing green stuff you may need an antibiotic. I have also taken sudafed, but if you have a 24hr pharmacy you could always give them a call and ask what is safe during pregnancy. Also, if you've seen your ob make sure to check the paper work they gave you. Most docs will give you a list of meds to take during pregnancy that are safe. My doc prescribed Claritin D. Don't recommend anything, especially not over the counter meds, either. Call a doctor or better yet go to your neighborhood health food store and have them suggest something. I had the same problem with each of my pregnancies, I would turn into a snot factory! It has something to do with hormones during pregnancy and the doctors never would give me anything for it. I have chronic sinus all the time so during my pregnancies I was still able to take a nasal spray and the chemist was also able to give me some tablets. They are chemist prescribed so you have to ask. |
