WHICH antibiotics cure Sinusitis and which are the best ??

Every year I suffer from sinus infection I mean my brother gets a cold takes some drugs, vitamin c coldrex and it's gone in my case it just a beginning cause I get sinusitis and can't cure it without taking antibiotics. Every year it's the same i mean i don't want to eat so antibiotics cause it's also unhealthy.

1. Which antibiotics are the best for sinus, maybe I could tell about them to my doc and ask her what she thinks

2. do you know some other ways to cure sinus infection ??

THanks Lesley - as for polyps i had yjem removed 1year (wanted to have a better looking nose and took care of polyps btw) ago and it's still the same I don't know maybe they are somewhere deep inside my frontal sinus. Frontal sinus is always a problem for me.

- you are right about doing a test on the germ, I remember my doc prescribed me antibiotic and after 2days i had to change it. it weasn't working.

- i always have to look and check temperature outside and have a cap especially when it;s windy cause otherwise I easily get sinus infectiomn :( my doc usually gives me Cefuroxime as I can't take penicilin :(

You should ask your doctor to do a test on the germ to find out what antibiotics will treat it. Otherwise you could be prescribed an antibiotic that doesn't kill the germ, and then you will have to take a different antibiotic later. Find out when she will send it to the lab because it might end up sitting around and then you won't be able to get an accurate result.

While you're waiting for the results, do an inhalation in the morning and late evening. Here are the instructions
1) blow your nose, but not too hard in case it hurts your ears.
2) boil half a litre of water (3/4 of a pint)
3) put the water in a bowl or pan
4) you can add half a teaspoon of "vick" (or something like that eg a "halls" sweet) if you want to really clear your sinuses!
5) put a towel over your head, put your head over the bowl and breathe in the steam for a quarter of an hour.

Don't go outside into the cold for an hour before or after doing the inhalation.

It sounds like a lot of time, but it's really worth doing (it will also help with a cough)

You might have polyps in your sinuses like I do, that would explain why you always get it. Ask your doctor to have a look (she will be able to see into the sinuses on your cheeks, but not into the sinuses in your forehead)

At the first symptoms of a cold I use a nosespray called nasonex or nasacort, and that usually stops my sinuses from getting infected in the first place, ask your doctor to prescribe you something like this (the name might be different in the UK.)

You really need antibiotics, but eat live yogurt in between taking the antibiotics so that they don't damage your intestinal flora too much

Try running a humidifier 24/7 in your room to help liquify your secretions and drain the gunk. No other way that I know of to cure sinus infection.
