Sinusitis/sinus infection?

i went to the dr. and he told me i have sinusitis. i've never heard of it. is it another name of a sinus infection?
or are they different?

Its the infection of paranasal sinuses- that is sinuses or empty spaces of bones around the inner nose. It can be acute-if its recent and u have fever and flu like symptoms. It can be chronic if it is more than 3 month old. In that case u will feel facial pressure, bocked nose, headaches.

yes...it is inflammation of the sinus cavity...could be from allergies...with or without infection.....
Sinusitis is an 'on going' problems.
