Common cold or sinusitis? |
How do you know if what you have is a cold or a sinus infection? Or does one cause the other? I've been having colds almost every weekend lately, but accompanied with a pain between my eyes, so I guessed that it was sinusitis, but how do you know for sure? And what treatment will I need? A cold always lasts around 10 days. Most likely you have a sinus infection, which needs to be treated with anti-biotics. Sinus infections don't go away on their on. Try some saline nasal washes....sniff it up your nose and help clear all that stuff out. If it persists or if you have a fever, see your ENT physician. It may be allergies. You say it happens on the weekends. Think about where you spend your weekends. Are you at home mostly? mold, dust, animal???? or maybe you get outdoors more on the weekend? ragweed, pollen,... get tested for allergies Common cold is a viral infection of the nose and throat. There are hundreds of different types of viruses which can cause common cold.These viruses are transmitted from an affected person to another directly or indirectly.
