Any tips for Sinusitis? |
I've had the flu for just over a week now, and on Monday morning I awoke to excrutiating toothache. I called and got an emergancy appointment at the dentist, but after thoroughly checking my tooth, said that it was fine, and have I been ill? I told him about the flu (as if he couldnt have guessed) and he said I have sinusitis, where my sinuses are blocked, swelling and pressing on nerves in my face, causing the toothache. He said just to give it time and it will pass. I have been up all night again with the pain, which has now spread right across my cheeckbone and behind my eye... toothache in your eye is not the most pleasant experience, I can assure you... I saw my GP on Wed, who have me a nasal spray, but there is still no improvement... I have tried inhaling menthol steam, I have stood in a hot shower for an hour, nothing works.... My nose isnt blocked, just the sinuses... Can anyone give me some advice please? I dont think I can take it for much longer... YES! I had the same symptoms and affliction. Your doctor is HORRIBLE for one get a different doctor. If you cant take it go to the emergency room (be prepared to pay the copay) The answer for ME was KEFLEX / CEFLEX. You need to get it prescribed, and fast. It is an alternative to penicillin. Look it up on wikipedia for info on what it does. Make sure you take ALL pills. It will take about a week, but the EAR INFECTION YOU PROBABALLY have will be cured. 1. I had sore joints 2. I had an itching like crazy feeling in my ears, tons of wax, air pressure issues, pain 3. I had pain in cheekbone, eyes and behind my ears. 4. I did not have mouth pain or a mouth infection, but this is one possibilitiy I know after reading about the symptoms that I had a sinus INFECTION. GOOD LUCK GO GET HELP NOW! A glass of wine or a nip of whisky will help and I am not joking. Eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief is also handy. It really sounds as if you need to go back to the doctor and get an antibiotic since you are now in pain. Put some of the metholatum or Vicks vapor rub on your cheeks . Put very warm compresses on your face until the compress cools. Then take your knuckles and knead gently in the areas of the pain. Maybe this will help to break it up and give you some relief. Hope you feel better soon. It sounds so gross but works so great. Take a glass of warm salt water and plug one nostril and suck up the saline solution then let it drain out your mouth, then the other side. I always find that a great remedy when my sinuses act up. Lie in bed and take a hot water bottle and put it on your sinus areas that are bothering you .Make sure your head is elevated also use a humidifier in the room with mentholated cream in it.. I did this and had really bad sinus with positional vertigo..worked like a charm..Do it everyday for maybe an hour or so.When the water in the bottle gets cold change it again to hot..should work. the only thing that works for me is Tylenol sinus extreme cold med. I have had the very same experience and have heard that it is related to having had root canals... my dentist gave me a prescription for an antibiotic... I'm not really pro-antibiotics, but that is one time when I was truly thankful. Then I did a lot of reading and tried a few preventative measures that have resulted in my not having the same problem again (it was excruciating). *I improved my nutrition-- cut out dairy, for one thing, and became vegan *I consulted with a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner who prescribed homeopathics for me *I did a lemon juice and maple syrup in water cleanse for 7 days *if I have even an inkling of any gum discomfort that seems like it might be headed for my sinuses, I use Peppermint Essential Oil... inhale it by putting a little under my nose. I also put a drop in a glass of water and drink it (but make sure it is pure, unadulterated, ingestible essential oil and not something with solvents in it). Pure, unadulterated clove oil is also helpful. Essential oils and homeopathics (but not together) rule! All the best! ~Peace in 2007~ |
