My son was diagnosed with sinusitis yesterday and complained of painful heels today. Any connection?

My son's heel pain is making him giddy every time he uses his right foot to walk. And it is painful enough to make him refuse to walk. Does it have anything to do with his sinusitis? He's on medication now after complaining of giddiness/nauseous for several days especially in the morning and was diagnosed with sinusitis yesterday.

Okay, here is a possible connection. Certain antibiotics can cause problems in the Achilles tendon, which is by the heel. The antibiotics are the fluoroquinolones, such as levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin (the pharmacy would be able to tell you if the medication you have is from this class). if your son's heels on located near his nose, then the pain is 100% related.
I'm in NO WAY a doctor but I did have an extreme case of sinusitis when I was 16. Blood (etc.) was coming out of my nose/sinuses for months and I could barely hear since it all backed up into my ears as well. After months of trying every antibiotic possible, it got so out of control that I finally needed to go in for surgery where they drained everything out. At NO time did I ever have any weird pain in my feet/heels. Never.

Maybe there is some weird connection having to do with your sons nervous system that may link the sinus problem with his heels but that certainly did not happen with me!
It is wise to consider the possibility that diverse symptoms may be related (they often are). In this case, my first thought is the possibility that your son's foot pains may be a reaction to his medication. Please consult your doctor about this. It may be an appropriate 'test' to stop the medication and see what happens to the foot pain.

One more thought. Sinusitis is not a complete diagnosis without determining the CAUSE of the sinusitis. Insist that the doctor determine the cause, and if he/she cannot, then demand a referral to someone who can.

No. I am not aware of any condition that causes both heel pain in one foot and sinusitis. I think you have to chalk it up to two different conditions that present themselves at the same time just by coincidence.

You did not mention some other possible facts: your son's age. His otherwise physical condition; was he on medication before the sinusitis? was he on medication before the heel pain? What do you mean by "giddiness"? that usually has nothing to do with walking. It might have something to do with sensitivity to medication, however. If it persists, you have to check back with the doctor, just to make certain it is the right medication for him, and the right dosage. It might be a reaction to either.
Well this sounds like my first experience , of symptons of fibromyalgia, it started like sinus ,and a hornet sting. i found out i was allergia to sting. went to hosp that day, alsogave me meds next day my feet tickled and hurt at the same time. over 3 months i was in so much pain!!!in feet.... i hope and pray this is not what he has. freightlinerblue@yahoo
