Im going to be checked out for skin cancer, what can i expect?

im 16 and i have a mole that has started growing abnormally and wa sbleeding when i shaved (it has never bled from shaving before) anyway i have two questions

1. what can i expect for the examination?
2. whe i was a little kid i constantly tried to dig the mole out, could that have made me more at risk?

You should not worry about being checked for skin cancer.
Best thing to do if you have a mole that has been growing
abnormally.
The dermatologist will check you over and the mole and
good chance take it out and sent it to be checked to see
if it is cancerous. If it is, there is the possibility the dermatologist will remove more of the mole area - minor surgery most likely but no pain - just couple of shot injections.
Or, he could, depending on the situation, just freeze it off.
You just feel cold at that area, but no pain really. You may get a few stitches if it is minor surgery on an outpatient basis, but you won't feel any pain during the process. Again, don't wait - have it checked out now.
Have gone through this 3 times - glad I did before they got
worse.

it could be cancerous or benign. i don't think digging the mole would have made you more at risk.

Make an appointment with a dermatologist. He will just look at the mole and he can determine if it looks like cancer. If he thinks it is, he will numb the area and take it off and send it to a lab for a biopsy. You won't feel any pain. If he doesn't think it looks like cancer, he will just spray some ice on it from a spray can. Don't worry about having it inspected. It is better to have it looked at and taken care of. Good luck.

I've had moles surgically removed and funny things frozen. It's not THAT bad.
Ask the doc how to shave that area if you get it surgically removed!
Mine were on my back and my elbow so I never even see them.

My kids and I all had moles seen by the dermatologist recently. Their's bleed periodically but the doctor said they look fine to him. Sent the kids home.
2 of my moles--no bleeding, but they do itch and have changed color--were removed. The doctor numbed the area and sliced them off and cauterized them. He sent them away to check for cancer but doesn't think it'll be anything to worry over. It didn't hurt at all!
At 16, it would be unusual for there to be a big problem. But please make sure you use sunscreen. Not enough kids think it's important.

WOW,all the Doc is gonna do is examine you, and IF they see something worthy of attention, they get special ultra-violate light and check it out! If it test positive, well the doctor will then have to remove it at a later date and sent what they cut off to get it tested elsewhere. Is this good enough. I have freckles and they are always looking at me, and have found, not a thing beside these damm freckles.

Tans are way over-rated. Honestly, how does the look of someone's skin make them look better? Just be proud of your skin. I find people with fairer skin better looking.
