Who do I make an appt with for possible skin cancer? |
I have this birthmark-looking bump that has feels rough like a scab and has the appearance of a scab only I never scratch it. I'm worried it might be skin cancer so I'm wondering should I see a general practitioner or a dermatologist or is there a specialist for this kind of thing? Make an appointment with your family doctor, as soon as possible. They can schedule an appointment with a specialist and get you in sooner than YOU can call the specialist and get in, and in many places, you can only get into a specialist by being refered to them by a family physician, ER doctor, etc. They are probably going to refer you to a dermatologist, that is the Dr. that specialized in skin problems. If you can get in..see a dermatologist. But FP providers can do well too. Take my word for it, NOT the GP and probably not the dermatologist. Go directly to the plastic surgeon. Have the thing taken care of now, and have no scar. If you have a rash, go to the GP. If you have a weird persistent rash, the dermatologist. If you have to have something that need to be cut out, go to a plastic surgeon! Start with a dermatologist |
