so... why should smoking around kids be illegal, and letting your kids get sun burned NOT be illegal?

Neither should be illegal. Not everything should be legislated.

Its not illegal to smoke around your kids...
just not the best thing to do.

um because its easyer to prevent smoke from being around a child then the sun even thou you put sun tan lotion on them before going out to swim or play you try to get them to come in or out of the pool to get lotion put back on them ya right not going to happen

Why would you purposely smoke around your child, KNOWING that it could cause them life-threatening diseases (Does your link provide info on how many kids die from asthma attacks every year)?

There's protection against the sun, like sunscreen and hats. There is little or no protection against second hand smoke.

I would not let my son get sun burned. People are ignorant.

I was a kid that was subject to a lot of second hand smoke, and I have asthma.

The point is kids can be protected from the sun with sunscreeen, they don't have that same protection when someone is smoking around them.
