How does a person develop skin cancer?

How does a person develop skin cancer?

The bigest risk fctor for melanoma or skin cancer is damage caused by UV radiation.

The most common forms of UV radiation are the sun and tanning salons.

Clouds DO NOT filter UV radiation, so you need to protect you skin even on a cloudy day.

If you have enough exposure to tan, you have damaged your skin and may have had enough exposure to form skin cancer in the future.

Wear a hat, sunglasses and long sleaves and trousers if you are going to be in the sun for any length of time.

Wear sun screan, when ever outdoors in daylight, even driving the car etc.

Avoid tanning salons an avoid sun-bathing.

UV radiation is worse where there is no ozone layer to filter it, so Australia, which is covered by a large hole in the ozone layer, is particularly prone to skin cancer.

Mostly exposure to the direct Sun light

you can get melanoma from the sun!
mainly in the summer if you dont wear sunscrean, i had it.

Hi!
Ninety percent of all skin cancers are directly attributed to overexposure to UV rays, either out in the sun or in tanning beds. Over time, sun damage changes the DNA in skin cells, causing them to reproduce erratically. See much more info on skin cancer at Suite101.com here:
