How risky is Skin Cancer for me in Phoenix?

I'm Russian. My family has for generations have lived at 55'N Latitude. I'm a first generation American currently living in New York City, which is located at 40'N.

I have brown headhair and my skin is by no means frail. I'm pretty hairy all over my body.

I visited San Francisco the April of last year, and after a couple of days of being out in the sun all the time, my face got sunburned BAD (only part that was exposed).

So basically, I'll tan up/sunburn at a low latitude fairly quickly, I think.
How big is the risk for me?

Wear sunscreen and a hat and you will be fine.

I would say pretty substantial. You'll need to wear sunscreen all the time if you plan to be outside for a substantial amount of time. That said, applying sunscreen is pretty easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Just do that, and you'll be fine.

Wear sunscreen or you will get burned there! You also need to keep re-applying it. I grew up there back in the days no one wore sunscreen, and have had many a sunburn. I've had some pre-cancerous spots treated too. If you want some color and are going to be outside for a wile wear a lower number (8 or higher) and you will tan nicely but not get burned.

In the sun, you should definitely use sunscreen and wear a hat, regardless of where you are. The nastiest burns I have received have not been in Phoenix and I've lived here for more than 20 years.

It all depends on how long you're in the sun, but summers are really brutal here. Unless your in a pool or lake, most people won't stand out in the direct sun during the summer because it's soo hot.

Its a huge risk for anyone there especially you. So, if you put A LOT of sunscrene on and just take care of your self and not spend too much time out side youll be good.
