Can young children have skin cancer?

was doing my 7 year old daughter's hair this morning and I noticed a mole/skin discoloration that I haven't seen before. It's just past her hairline and she is very fairskinned and blond. Is it possible to have something cancerous so young and so quickly???

It is entirely possible. It could be something else though, best to get it checked out in case, it could be removed easily if caught early if it is indeed cancer.

One of my daughter's classmates got skin cancer in 2nd grade so it is possible. Have it checked out by the doctor. We can't be too careful with our children.

It might be a birth mark or a strawberry mark (Haemangioma).
If you have concerns about your daughter the best place to get those answers it from a doctor.
I would not panic or worry until I talked to someone professionally about it.

If you're that concerned, take her to the doctor and get it checked out. My daughter's friend was 15 when she WAS diagnosed with skin cancer, so it can happen depending on sun exposure. Her friend is fine now but stays out of the sun and wears LOTS of sunscreen.
