If I had skin cancer wouldn't I have more symptoms that just mole changes?

For about four years I've noticed changes in several of my moles. Then I have a lot of more than I used to. They are all oddly shaped and colored. Then I have these place the size of a freckle that are red.

It's been about four years since I've noticed the changes and I'm scared to go to the doctor. I was just wondering though if I did have skin cancerfor as long as I thought I have wouldn't I have had more symptoms?

I'm not fair skinned by any means, nor am I a freckly person.

google melanoma
my mother in law just had a precancerous mole removed and the doctor said that if she had ignored it, it could have been a big problem. She had no symptoms, but she lives on the beach and is a sun lover. She noticed the change in a mole on her chest and had a biopsy. She and my father in law go to doctors regularly so I suggest you get this checked out. Could be nothing, but her doctor said that by the time you have symptoms of the this type of illness it is often too late.
Peace, Jennnnnnnnnnnn

Most likely you do not have cancer. Freckly folks pick up more freckles as time goes on and as they get more sun exposure. Freckles are just a concentration of melanin (the stuff in your skin the gives people a tan). Melanin is your body's way of protecting you from the sun, but people with light freckly skin don't usually tan very well so they get more sun exposure when they go out. If you are noticing changes in your freckles like very uneven borders, areas that are dark brown or blackish or those that look like the are not just freckles and they they "extend below the surface" somehow, have a doctor check them. Cancer is not likely, but if they look suspicious your doctor can just freeze them off in the office and you won't have to worry about them anymore.

The little red dots could be Campbell de Morgan spots which are clumps of tiny blood vessels just under the skin or petechiae which are pin-point red spots from blood vessels. They are both harmless and have nothing to do with cancer at all.

Don't be worried about cancer, just do a mole/freckle screening and put your mind at ease. Skin cancer is nothing to mess with, but if you go in your doctor can point out what you should be looking for so that you can stay on top of it, but not worry needlessly. Hope this helps, best of luck!

skin cancer will show as moles but underneath the moles, there are roots. By the time you see the mole, it is like the tip of the iceberg. That's only about 10% of the affected area.

Don't worry, not all moles are harmful.

Go to a mohs specialist. I did, and the guy came in with a magic marker and special glasses, and started circling all these spots on me. He removed them right then and there. It didn't hurt, and it took care of the situation immediately.

but darker ones and oddly shaped ones are of concern.

Get checked!

They may not neccesarily be cancers. They could be what is called precancerous, which means in years to come they can turnin to it. Because they have been showing some changes, you should get them tended to. There is no reason to be scared, what you are doing is prevention. Skin cancer more commonly (but not always) occurs later in life....these are you little warning signs!!! Get them looked at, you will feel better after!!!

That site has alot of information.
Seriously, go to your doctor though.
I heard of a guy who had skin cancer on his head (he was a bald golfer), he ignored it. it spread to bone cancer. and by the time he finally got help, it had spread to his brain.
Cancer is nothing to mess around with.

they may well not be cancers...but just don't delay - the doctor can look & tell you straight away...honestly - if one is bad & you leave it...you'll regret leaving it so long....be brave..go on!!
