Skin cancer on head?

I want to know how to check for skin cancer on head when it is covered with hair? Does that hurt and what are the symptoms?

Skin cancer will generally appear as a mole which has the attributes of one you should have checked.

You should examine your skin frequently for moles which have the ABCDEs of skin cancer. Links to informational resources are below. You should also have a doctor check your skin annually (including your head under your hair) for suspicious moles. If you have a mole which you are concerned about now, don't hesitate but have it checked out by your doctor or a dermatologist immediately. If it is skin cancer you don't want to wait.

Overall, though, serious forms of skin cancer are relatively rare. There are several less serious forms which are very common but easily dealt with if caught early. The key is staying informed about skin cancer risks, being aware of your skin all over your body, and checking with a doctor right away if you see any changes that might indicate skin cancer.

And take all the standard precautions too. Don't go out in the sun without sun screen and protective clothing. Wear a hat. Don't use tanning booths. Never get a sunburn, even if it is just from hanging your arm out the window of your car.
