Skin cancer please help me understand?

Ok while im sure my son's father has it. But im confuessed on how it got it. i think it's a cancer that has cell something in the name cause he has these sores that dont heal and patches over parts of his face like his eye and cheek but he doesn't fix the decision of people the mostly have it he's real dark(African american) he not in the sun as much and he wears a hat i all the time. I known him for 5 yrs and he always had it since i known him. I also read it could come from AIDS which i check myself over and over again and it's not that while i don't have it but it still scares me. His mother died when he was young from lopis(hope i spelled it close to right) which i learned is a type of skin cancer just more "advance" will be the right word, but i heard it's a women disase. He has no insurance so i plan to take him to the county sat but he"s a lil scared and it took me 4 years to finally get to this point of at least him trying to go to the doctor to see what it is. just need a lil

He also has a lot of joint pain his wrist was hurting real bad sat and he didnt do anything for it to be sore

The two very common skin cancers are called "basal cell carcinoma" (the most common type) and "squamous cell carcinoma." Although Lupus (lupus erythematosus) can produce a butterfly shaped rash over the nose and cheeks, it is not any cancer. AIDS is not related to skin cancers.
Both basal cell and squamous cell cancers are usually found on the head and hands as a result of long exposure to sun which starts as a child. They can both be cured when treated early and properly by a skin doctor or physician with experience. There are different types of treatment. Left alone, both will continue to grow and destroy surrounding skin. It is best to get treatment as soon as you can since there can be several skin cancers at the same time in different places.

I've had skin cancer, but it is VERY rare for a black man to have it. Read up on psyorisis. That is a skin condition that doesn't heal. It's very common and has no other side effects. I'll bet that's what he has. The only way you'll know for sure is if he goes to see a doctor. if it makes you feel better - it takes a VERY long time to get sick from skin cancer. Many many years.

Skin cancer can happen to anyone. While it's more likely in pale-skinned people who have been out in the sun, it can also happen to darker skinned people. It also depends what kind he has. A lot depends on how much sun exposure he had as a child.

It sounds like his mother had Lupis? Lupis is not a skin cancer--it is an auto-immune disease, in which your body's own immune system attacks itself. Most people who have it are women, but men can have it, too. You'll know more how to act and react once he is diagnosed with whatever is wrong with him.
