My dad had skin cancer, how much more of a risk do i have for getting it? Only about 10% of cancer cases are due to hereditary factors. You don't inherit a tendency to skin cancer the way you do with some other types so your risk is not increased because someone in your family has it. It is generally considered to be a more preventable type of cancer. You can protect yourself from skin cancer by using sunscreen every time you leave the house and wearing a hat etc. I am sure you have heard this information many times. |
