What would be the signs of skin cancer to a guy in his 20's?

Any possible symptoms, with details if possible would be appreciated, thanks

You have 2 concerns, melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. Melanoma follows the ABCD rules stated here.

http://www.melanomafoundation.org/preven...

Non-melanoma skin cancers often show up as a sore that does not heal, a red or brown bump or lesion that starts growing slowly or any odd growth that is crusty and does not go away. Unless you tan a lot or work outside it would be fairly unusual for you to have a non-melanoma skin cancer in your 20s but the age at which these cancers are appearing is moving down all the time. Read up on basal and squamous cell skin cancers here along with the various precancerous conditions.

good luck

Any fast growing mole, or a pencil eraser sized, irregular shape, multi-colored spot should be looked at stat.!! There are several forms of skin cancer, and several forms of Melanoma, some being extremely aggresive, and metastisize quickly. See a Dermatologist. Other forms like Basal cell or Squamous cell are usually easily removed, and not too dangerous, unless ignored for a long time. (You can get moles and skin cancer on the bottom of your feet, and other places, where the sun don't shine.!!)

Please if you suspect you have skin cancer go to the Doctors now !! There are many signs from an itchy patch of skin, to a mole which changes shape and or becomes itchy. I have seen too many of my family members ignore things and they have died. I am being blunt here go to the GP don't ask questions on here you still have a long life to live and you need to get any suspicions checked out.

One of my relatives had a "strange mole " appear on his foot he ignored it by the time he went to the docs it was too late. And an uncle had a small mole under his arm it change and grew he had served in Burma durning the war and it took many years to come to the surface but his cause of death was skin cancer. It doesn't have to be doom and gloom please go if its a relative drag them kicking and screaming if you have to .

Anyone wants to give me a thumbs down fine but this is one serious question and needs action.

The thing about skin is it is visible, so any cancers of the skin you will see straight away. You need to look out for suspicious moles- which get bigger or change colour. You should also look out for new appearing 'lesions' which will start out small and get bigger over time.. These will usually be slightly raised, slightly red and scaly/crusty on top, they are not usually itchy.

If it isnt a pimple, eczema or sunburn and you're worried about it it will only take a minute for a doctor to look at it and reassure you or lop it off so dont hesitate if anything strange appears on your skin.

These are some symptoms that i found.

A small lump (spot or mole) that is shiny, waxy, pale in color, and smooth in texture.

A red lump (spot or mole) that is firm

A sore or spot that bleeds or become crusty. Also look for sores that don't heal.

Rough and scaly patches on the skin.

Flat scaly areas of the skin that are red or brown.

Any new growth that is suspicious

My grandmother has had skin cancer more than once and i know she's not a male in her 20's but skin cancer is skin cancer. I couldn't get a hold of her to ask her what her symptoms were but i'll get back to you.

My 26 yo daughter had skin cancer. She had a mole on her stomach. It had been there for years, and she just thought it was a normal mole. The Dr noticed it when she was in for a checkup. The biopsy on it showed skin cancer. So you can't always tell.
My husband also had a red, irregular shaped mole on his back. The Dr was very suspicious, and removed it. His came biopsy came back normal.

i heard that some sort of a weird looking mole on the skin that wasnt there before is ONE of the signs of skin cancer, but best thing is to ask ur GP.

The change in colour and size of moles on your skin, itchyness and also bleeding.

Unusual shaped mole, or one that bleeds. Unlikely to be skin cancer at that age.

a mole that has changed colour to dark brown or black and has changed shape and is crusty

One of my mates had it, but because he went to the doc's they got it on time & now he's ok.
