Is there any evidence to sudgest that skin cancer ISN'T caused by UV rays?

Is there any evidence to sudgest that skin cancer ISN'T caused by UV rays?

There was a study currently released that suggested that people in the Northern states get skin cancer at the same rate as those in Texas and Florida. I have read studies that speculate that the cancer may be caused by a reaction of the chemicals in sunscreen to exposure rather than exposure itself. At any rate, the best defense seems to be just don't get burned...15-30 minutes a day probably will be good for you.

There are other things besides UV than can cause some types of skin cancer. For example exposure to certain chemicals can cause squamous cell skin cancers. Not sure if this is true for basal cell or melanoma types of skin cancer but I am positive this is true for squamous cell carcinoma and also for cutaneous t-cell lymphoma. Viruses are implicated as a causal factor in Kaposi sarcoma and also merkel cell carcinoma. These last 3 diseases mentioned are all rare types of skin cancer.

Not that i know of, though if you mean if it's caused by other things as well, then yes. Skin cancer can be caused by any radiation above visible light on the EM spectrum. And maybe microwaves can cause it to. (note: i mean microwave radiation, not microwave ovens... but they probably will give you cancer if you run it with the door off)

Evidence? No.

Crackpot theories? Plenty.
