How much higher are Australian skin cancer rates than other countries'?

Because they are a fair race that loves the beach

The incidence of melanoma is increasing in the United Kingdom and the United States. This contrasts with a falling incidence in Australia.

Australia still has the highest incidence of skin cancer of any country in the world. Two out of three Australians will be treated for some form of skin cancer during their lifetime.

Incidence of skin cancer has quadrupled in British males between 1975 and 2001, tripled in British females.
Exposure to UV radiation has increased in recent decades in the UK population as people have increasingly sought a suntan by holidaying in hot countries and using sunbeds.

Thousands more Britons than Australians die from malignant melanoma despite the fact that more cases of this most deadly form of skin cancer are diagnosed Down Under.
Experts are alarmed at how many Britons fail to use proper protection in the sun.

USA - Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in this country. About one million Americans develop skin cancer each year. The incidence of skin cancer is increasing by epidemic proportions.

Over 382,000 Australians are diagnosed with skin cancer (over 8,800 are melanoma - the most deadliest form) but only about 1,300 Australians die from the condition each year. www.cancer.org.au

Due to the ease and speed at which skin can be checked, Australia has less deaths from skin cancer than may be expected, when compared to some other countries. A quote from www.cancerresearchuk.org makes interesting reading:
Although Australia has one third the population of the UK, and has more cases of malignant melanoma. Yet each year 600 more people die from the disease in Britain than in Australia.

Bottom line is there is more risk of dying from Skin cancer in Britain than in Australia.

i think its 1 in 2 get skin cancer :S
