Can a cat scan detect skin cancer?

I have a mole in my stomach which looks odd, its not evenly rounded.
I have had many scans and cat scans recently, would those detect skin cancer?

No, a CT won't say much about what it is, only the anatomical location/shape/size. A PET will suggest activity but won't still tell you what it is. You should get a dermatologist opinion about it; shave biopsy usually confirms diagnosis.

Skin cancer can develop rapidly. If you notice changes in a mole your doctor can do a biopsy then order a PET (Positron Emission Tomography) and CT (Computed Tomography) scans. Both are use to pinpoint disease states in the body. A PET scan demonstrates the biological function of the body before anatomical changes take place, while the CT scan provides information about the body's anatomy such as size, shape and location. By combining these two scanning technologies, a PET/CT scan to more accurately diagnose and identify cancer.
