I've had it. You're going to be ok!

I had basal cell carcinoma on my face. I think I ignored it for over a year, thinking it was an old scar. But then it scabbed and bled and I finally had it looked at.

Here's what they did for me. They did a biopsy first. They'll inject a little painkiller in it and take a knife and shave the top of it off. It doesn't hurt when they do it and it really won't hurt afterwards--it just kind of stings for a little bit.

After mine came back positive for cancer, they did something called a Mohs procedure on me. Basically they used a local anesthetic and cut more of it out. They immediately examined it under a microscope and confirmed they got all the cancer. If they hadn't they would have kept taking small slices out until there was no cancer remaining. I did need a skin graft afterwards, but now, 2 years later most people can't even tell anything happened to me and my cancer has on the bridge of my nose at the corner of my eye.

My husband had melanoma removed and his experience was similar to mine but his was more serious so he went under general anesthesia when they removed his cancer.

If they've caught it early, they're just going to cut it off and you won't need any other treatment.

I'll pray for you!
