I have skin cancer? Should I tan? |
Ok well I found out 3 months ago I have pre melanoma and ever since then I have been wearing sun screen. Well my problem is that before I knew about my skin cancer I played tennis a school and I had like a tennis tan(like a shirt tan and like a tan on my legs but like you can see where I wore my shorts). So when I go to the beach you can clearly see where im white. We had a family member who died because his melanoma wasn't diagnosed in time. Have you ever seen what your body can look like after having a melanoma removed? The hole left in your body is MUCH larger and deeper than the mole was. Take a look: Your doctor is going to be the best person to ask about this. However, my guess is going to be... NO!!! Well, I mean, you can if you want to, its your body. I still smoked for a while after I was diagnosed with cancer, but its not healthy for you. You need to make a choice between being fashionable or being healthy, and you are the only person that can make that decision. The easy answer is a resounding NO. If you protect yourself with appropriate amounts of high SPF sun tan lotions. Melanoma can be very deadly, while skin that has been sunburnt and tanned is associated with melanoma, if you doctor ruled out any genetic component, the risk of getting another spot is low. Yea...and when you die from it you can play tennis in heaven. I've heard some dumb questions, and I usually try to be more open minded especially when the question is in the cancer category, skin cancer can spread to other parts of the body. it is serious and people think it is not serious. Do you not understand that melanoma is from sun damage and can in certain cases be fatal??? Why, why would you want to even risk that once??? Who cares about your tennis tan--being alive and healthy is far more important. Just think, you could be tan but have no hair from chemo... Be smart here. Skin cancer is caused by the heat from tanning. I think you should be more concerned about making the skin cancer worse than about what people will think when you go for a cruise on the beach. The tan line will eventually go away, but skin cancer is a little bit harder to get rid of... i think you can figure out the answer yourself... skin cancer is cause by tanning so if you want to die then you can tan. what are you willing to risk, your health or your appearance? hell no..so many people would give up anything to be i ur positon...dont rosk it..it would be foolish.. |
