Is skin cancer terminal?

I just went to the doctor the other day and they said I had 3 cysts (I don't know how to spell that) and one lliftnote (Don't know how to spell that either). But my main question is: is skin cancer terminal?

There are several types of skin cancer the most common ones are not terminal 98% of the time. It all depends on the stage, as most cancers do. Cysts are rarely cancerous in most areas of the body, but you should confirm your diagnosis as I think your second word should be lymph node. It is important to know exactly what 鈥渙ne lymph node鈥?means.

I鈥檓 glad Sandra is doing well, but you must be mistaken about something in your diagnosis, as it isn鈥檛 very luck to be diagnosed with a stage 3-4 melanoma. Stage 4 has a median survival of 6-7 months.

I understand your concerns and fears and the best approach to control your emotions is through education. First get a good explanation from the doctor of your pathology results, even get a second opinion. Then research the specific cancer, if any, stated in the report.

There are 3 types of skin cancer, 2 are very treatable, but one, Melanoma has a poor survival rate. BUT!!!

The last thing anyone here should be saying is telling you that it is terminal or untreatable. You need to focus on what your doctors are offering for treatments. See specialists for the specific cancer type.

Remember cancer statistics have both a good side and bad side. You need to focus on your treatment and the belief that you are on the good, successful side. Cancer statistics are determined from completed trials so the data is 2 to 10 years old. There are new and better treatments available today, and there will be better ones tomorrow.

You cannot listen to the doomsayers. I am a 6 year survivor, 2 occurrences of Melanoma, stage IIIb. The statistics 6 yrs ago was I had a 25% chance of 5 year survival. I am still here and going strong!

Skin cancer can spread very fast and be terminal, yes. But it isn't usually. From what you have said here, they didn't diagnose you with cancer though. Usually when they say cyst it means benign.

I had a melanoma 4 years ago, i was lucky it was a stage 3 or 4?,if i had waited another 6 months it would have been a different story,it all depends on what level it is,if a level 1-2 its early stages, good luck.
