Can you get lip cancer from biting the skin inside of your cheeks and lips until it bleeds?

Its been since forever that I have been doing this and my boyfriend finds it annoying when he catches me biting the skin off..And I really just bite layers off. My lips heal and even before there done healing i'll bite. Its been a bad habit of mine. Any long term effects?

OH I dont bite me lip as to where you can notice it with the eye, just inside mainly and I stopped for a week but just always find myself doing it.

i'm not sure but you should probably try not to do it anyways because it doesnt sound very healthy!

Although cancers can arise due to chronic irritation, the most predominant cause of lip cancers are due to alcohol and smoked tobacco but chronic sun damage can cause basal cell carcinoma of the lips as well. The most common cause of oral cancers is due to use of smoked tobacco with alcohol also enhancing the likelihood when used in conjunction with smoking. Though cancer may not be a top concern for your habit, acute and chronic oral infections can be. I suggest you try to stop your habit as I'm sure it's fairly uncomfortable.

I don't think you can get cancer, but you can increase a risk of getting a mucocele. I had this several years ago from a lip biting habit. These are harmless cysts that can be surgically removed.

Probably long term effects yes. And you should stop unless you want ugly lips when you are older. You cannot get cancer from this but canker sores and blisters can happen from this.

Your gonna have some really mess up lookin lips, but thats pretty much it...Your biting your lips and cheeks wouldn't just produce cancerous cells...

no, but u may get infections
