Skin Cancer??? |
im 30 weeks pregnant with my first child. My great gran had skin cancer and my mother had skin cancer is there a greater chance of my child developing it as it has skipped generations? By and large the answer is; "no". Some people have a slight genetic predisposition to certain types of cancers, but most cancers (90% or more) are caused by environmental factors, [Smoking, certain chemicals, exposure to particular things etc.] Don't forget that your by skipping a generation you are "diluting" any genetic influence by three quarters. So your child's (potential) predisposition is almost certainly nullified. She has no more chance than anyone else in other words. l.d ask you gp about this, scooby.doo. dont worry about that at mo take it easy enjoy the pregnancy if it didnt affect you why should it affect your baby There is a greater chance but make sure you protect your skin and use high factor sun cream and maybe you r G.P could do something. go to doctor and have tests both my gran and mum had skin cancer once and twice respectivly this puts me and my kids at greater risk i am not too worried as all i need to do is take greater care with putting on sun protection etc also as soon as any moles appear or change appearance go to the doctors i believe it is very rare for this type of cancer to be serious it is very easy to treat just relax |
