Do I Have Skin Cancer? |
So on the back of my neck there is this sorta brown patch thing on it. Before I thought it was just a rash a usually get, so I would scratch it all the time it bothered me. The itching has subdue, but the patch is still there and it worries me ALOT!! I'm not an active person and I used to never be out in the sun, but since the soccer season has started at my school, I've been practicing outside since the 12th of March. But the thing is, that is has just recently started getting sunny and warmer here in Michigan. I always have short sleeves shirts on and I never wear tank tops to practice. So is it cancer or it it just a rash mark? There are cutaneous lymphomas which first manifest as itchy reddish patches of skin but this is very rare in adults and even rarer in young people. You probably have eczema or dermatitis, both of which are very common, but only a dermatologist could tell you for sure what is going on. I'd suggest you try applying hydrocortisone cream twice daily for two weeks and see if you notice any difference. If the problem is dermatitis or eczema then your itching should improve. have it looked at- better safe tha sorry, skin cancer is the easiest cancer to take care of. I doubt you have skin cancer, it doesn't make sense with the rest. It does still take a bit to get it, your risk goes up if you get a sunburn. But stop in by your doctor, he'll give you the best peace of mind. I don't think you have skin cancer. But you may have something mild but lasting such as heat rash. Or since you have been outside lately it could simply be skin irritation. I hope this helps :-) WebMD No one can say for sure without looking at it. It probably isn't but have it checked. Even if is not cancer your doctor can help your itching symptoms. For a start see the school nurse if they have one, If this doesn't work, see your dr. if it bothers you so much that you post it here, then, go get some self assurance. |
