Which type of skin is more prone to skin cancer? |
I am a beige color skin with really dark brown hair. Do I have a high risk of getting skin cancer? And which type of skin has the highest risk of getting skin cancer? Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the Unites States. Known risk factors for skin cancer include the following: * Complexion - Skin cancers are more common in people with light-colored skin, hair, and eyes. * Genetics - Having a family history of melanoma increases the risk of developing this cancer. * Age - Nonmelanoma skin cancers are more common after age 40. * Sun exposure and sunburn - Most skin cancers occur on areas of the skin that are regularly exposed to sunlight or other ultraviolet radiation. This is considered the primary cause of all skin cancers. Skin cancer can develop in anyone, not only people with these risk factors. Young, healthy people -- even those with with dark skin, hair, and eyes -- can develop skin cancer. I think everyone should be careful in the sun but the highest risk is fair (light) skin. Think of Nicole Kidman... Fair headed people are more prone buy ALL skin types and colors CAN get skin cancer. SPF 50!!! White. And by white I don't mean the race, I mean the skin color. I know some black people who look pretty white like my stepmom and she is one of those who has to wear a lot of protection. The less melanin in the skin the less protected. That's one reason why darker people don't get sun-burned. The more prone to sunburn the higher the risk of skin cancer. Darker people can get skin cancer, it just doesn't happen at that high of a rate. Everyone should wear skin protection no matter their color though. you are at the medium risk of acquiring skin cancer . the skin which is most revealed to the sun . the white and blond skin type is at the highest risk of acquiring it the black and brown type has the least risk of acquiring it |
