it is completely depend on type of cancer and progression of it.
for example in the lung cancer small cell carcinoma have very poor prognosis and is very deadful or in skin the melanoma is so.but in skin and lung cancer there are some cancer which have very good prognosis and are remediable.
there are some types of cure like chemothrapy and surgery and radiation that in order to type of cancer and its stage we decide to use one of them.
for example in squamuscell carcinoma in the lung and if it has not metastasis the surgery is choise method in most of cases.
