Does the glass in the windows of automobiles protect me from skin cancer?

Does the glass in the windows of automobiles protect me from skin cancer?

I believe the glass is coated to reflect UV radiation, which is the radiation that damages skin and predisposes to skin cancer. Ideally, you should focus your skin protection on covering up with clothes, sunglasses, and sunscreen on a regular basis. This will not only protect you against cancer, it will slow down the drastic aging that sunlight can inflict on the skin. If you take this precaution, you can also stop worrying about whether your windshield is protecting you.

I must emphasize that UV radiation indeed does cause skin cancer. It damages the DNA of the skin, creating structural abnormalities called Pyrimidine dimers, which cause replication errors. This is well-established. The notion that sunscreen may contribute to skin cancer is misinformed and dangerous.
It depends on what you believe causes skin cancer. Contrary to popular belief, the rays of the sun do not cause skin cancer. They help the body to produce Vitamin D which is know to prevent and cure many types of cancer. With that understanding, anything that stops the rays of the sun from reaching your skin causes skin and other forms of cancer. Sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.

Moderation is the key. Sunburn is not pleasant either.
