Are there any proofs or studies that show if subblock causes skin cancer ? Do sunscreens cause skin cancer? There鈥檚 no evidence that any ingredients in sunscreens cause skin cancer or skin damage. According to Dr. John DiGiovanna, an investigator at the National Cancer Institute, 鈥渢here are many chemicals in sunscreens . . . . If you expose human genetic material to these chemicals in a test tube, they may damage it. But in actual use sunscreens never get inside the cells: there is little skin penetration. We have a wealth of evidence over the years that in people prone to develop skin cancer, sunscreens are very protective.鈥?Don鈥檛 believe claims, posted on a number of websites, that sunscreens are poisoning people. The real problem is that sunscreens aren鈥檛 used diligently enough. While some studies have suggested that sunscreen use might promote melanoma (the most dangerous kind of skin cancer), it isn鈥檛 because of the ingredients, but probably because sunscreens encourage people to stay in the sun. Also, it isn鈥檛 that people are at higher risk for melanoma because they use sunscreens, but the reverse鈥攖hey are more likely to use sunscreens because they know they鈥檙e at high risk. In any case, the American Journal of Public Health recently published an analysis of 11 good studies that tried to account for such factors, and it found no increased risk of melanoma from sunscreen use. WHO KNOWS FOR SURE?? Source(s): http://www.berkeleywellness.com/html/wl/... Not that I am aware of but there is a huge body of literature recommending use of Sunblock to ward off skin damage with resulting risk of cancer . Literature Sunblock does not cause skin cancer, but helps prevent it. My son, who is now 24, was diagnosed at age 16 with Melanoma and had to have surgery just after he turned 17 to remove the cancerous skin. His cancer doctors and dermatologist recommend using lotion with a minimum 15 SPF on a daily basis and additional sun screen with zinc oxide when outside for any length of time. Also highly recommended is clothing with an SPF rating and a hat that covers the neck and ears. I wish I rememberd the website where it was. I do beleve it does if you use it in excess. Also, I wouldn't use more than spf 15, that was on the news one night(and it was fox news). Check google out. |
