Horse health help!-skin!?

Recently I have noticed a few small lumps on my horses chest. I took them as mosquito bites. (we have a lot of them in mississippi) they spread. now they are all the way up and down her kneck and shoulders. So today when i was brushing her(she is sheading) those areas with the lumps are almost hairless. Please help! What could it be?! I've never read any heath problems that included lumps.

I can't think of anything it might be with the hair loss on top of having bumps.

Bumps can be allergies, bug bites, I even knew a horse that would rub on trees and get 'splinters' all over himself...and they would turn into little bumps with pus in them. I even thought of cysts...which one of my horses had. But they didn't 'spread.'

I really would call the vet this round...especially not knowing what it is...or what's causing it...and it's spreading...

At first I thought it could be hives, but I have never seen horses losing hair because of hives.
BUT I just saw something online...some woman's horse was having the same symptoms (bumps and hair loss). She got him tested and it turned out he had lice. You should get your vet out ASAP to test him.

check her paddock or pasture for bee hives, she could be getting stung. It could also be an allergic reaction if you are feeding her something new, or using something new on her coat.

i think red ants bit the horse and if it isnt that i think that she /he ate a plant
or something else that causes bumps and hair loss

She probably has hives. Check her pasture for any poisionous plants that she could be eating. Call your vet and ask for help.
