New bought hamster has sleeping disorder? |
I just bought a hamster about 2 days ago. I noticed him buried himself while sleeping, which I know is normal but I sometimes find him upside-down and breathing hard. I sometimes think he's shaking, but I'm not sure. Is this normal or can he have a sleeping disorder? Hamsters can be known for sleeping in odd positions, but its totally normal. Breathing hard and shaking: My non-expert opinion: He could be dreaming. But since I know a lot about animals and do a lot of research and study on them I'll give you my expert guess, which is: he's probably nervous and stressed. Since you just bought him, he's getting used to his environment but its going to take some time. Help him by handling him, and maybe interact with him in a small area (such as sitting in your empty bathtub; nowhere too big with too many objects or he will become even more stressed) Bottom line: Give him time to adjust. He'll come around eventually and sleep easy. They could be acting like a dog,..as in they could be dreaming?? Or they could easily be over heated,.scared..or nervous. it probably isn't a sleeping disorder. But if it continues i would take him into the vet or something lol. is it upside down or on it's side??? you shouldn't be asking the internet aske a pet associate at a pet store. They usually give free vet service within 14 days of purchase. |
