Sleeping disorders. Does the diagnoses confirm? |
Patient: I had a similar situation. If the patient is having panic attacks at night in their sleep then there must be a fear associated with dreaming, like you said death. This would fall in the night terror catagory. If the patient is having panic attacks right before they go to sleep then the fear might be falling asleep itself because they think they might die in their sleep. Many people like this feel not in control when they are asleep. It is really hard to diagnosis something like this because I think it hould be a sub-catagory itself. The best thing is to have the patient to talk therpy and confront the fear they are having and talk about it, figure out why they are afraid. Also if the patient is not sleeping as mine was not at all, I would recommend an SSR1 drug or remeron. |
