Is this a sleep disorder or am I just crazy?

I have this thing happen to me like 2 or 3 times a month were I will be asleep, like knocked out dead, and I either won't dream at all, or I will know I dreamed but I won't be able to remeber anything about it.
THEN when I wake up, I mean 100% awake, I will try to move, but I won't be able to. Then I'll try to open my eyes, and I can't do that either. Then I realize I can't breath, and I panic, I mean full blown panic attack, but I still can't do anything!!! Then right before I would pass out I guess, my body like snaps into motion. My mom said that it's part of my dream, but I KNOW that it's not!!!
It just happened to me, so I would really like an educated answer please.
:(

Sounds to me like sleep paralysis. Although in that you're still able to breathe; my guess is that you're panicked at not being able to move and are unconsciously holding your breath (people often do that in times of stress).
