Define sleep disorders?

what is sleep disorders? what are the courses of sleep disorders? how does it affect us psychologically?

Just today I watched a TV show I had taped previously about this topic. It is a group of physical characteristics, some with reasons known, some not, that interfere with steady, restful sleep. Some disorders that can be alleviated are sleep apnea, where a person stops breathing while sleeping...without an intervention, one can actually die, or have a heart attack. Even without those two drastic things occuring, those with sleep apnea get poor rest, are often tired and sleepy during the day, can't focus, have trouble completing tasks, have poor moods and do not get along well with others because they are so fatigued.

Reasons for apnea include large tonsils, which limit air, obesity, same reason, limiting air, and some people have a disorder called narcolepsy, where their body just literally falls asleep, at any time, any place--the person can be standing, walking, talking....day or night...that one is somewhat controlled in many with medications...

I saw a condition today on the show which I can't remember the name of that ususally strikes people in their teens, around age 15...and those who have it literally sleep for 10 days to a month or two at a time for up to 22 hours a day...they are in a "haze", but are alert enough to get up and go to the bathroom and eat one meal a day...and can go on for this for months, then, they wake up normal one morning...they never know when it will happen, or for how long they will sleep.

There have only been a few hundred cases in the world...and right now the two U-S patients live near each other in Florida...the boy is 15, the woman 24, and she began the illness at 15. Needless to say, they are being studied like crazy.

The psychological effects of sleeplessness include: depression, non-productivity, decreased strength of immune system, and inability to focus, they are also at a greater risk of falling asleep behind the wheel, having an accident behind the wheel or getting hurt in some other way, due to a lack on attention, to name a few.

sleep disorder is sleep that is not in order

The devil will get U
