Narcolepsy............. narcolepsy You have a condition called "sleep paralysis", a very common phenomenon that is frequently associated with horrible nightmares. Fortunately, it isn't serious and does not require treatment. It usually lasts a few seconds and you wake up temporarily paralyzed. Sometimes, people get it when they don't get enough sleep. Many people get this, and some of my patients get it all the time. It's nothing to worry about and it's not the Grim Reaper coming to get you...hope this helps, write back if you have anymore questions -DrP I believe it's called night paralysis. You awaken with a feeling of fear & doom during the stage of REM sleep, when your body has not yet awakened but your mind has fully awakened. It probably occurs more often than one would think. I know it's happened to me on more than one occasion, when my mind is awake but yet I can't move my limbs. It's very frightening. There is a medical name for it but I do not recall the medical name--sorry. |
