Do I have a sleeping disorder? |
I'm always tired. I doze off everywhere and all the time. I can sleep without waking for over 24 hours, and it doesn't matter how much I excersize, what I eat, when I sleep, or how many vitamins I take. I'm just always tired. It's been that way since I was five, and I'm fourteen now. My mum thinks I have a disorder, and I'm starting to believe her. Do you think she's right? Sounds like you might. You could have an imbalance of the melatonin and seratonin in your brain. Those are the chemicals that regulate whether you sleep or are awake. The best thing to do to get you some peace of mind (and some relief) would be to call your primary care doctor and tell them what's going on and see if they know of a sleep disorders physician or center that you could be referred to by them. If they won't refer you, there might be another option. If your insurance (your mom should be able to find this out for you if she doesn't already know) does not require a written or verbal referral from your primary physician, then if the sleep disorders center takes patients that refer themselves, you can just make your own appointment.
