What kind of doctor do I need to see for a sleeping disorder? |
I need to get back my sleeping pattern. I sleep no more than 3 to 4 hours and I wake up about 3 to 4 times with in those hours. I have tried everything recommended and nothing seems to work. I feel depressed and tired. I have no energy and eat at all hours of the night, so I've gained weight too. I need to see a doctor but don' t know if a reg. MD can help or if I need to see a specialist? I am also in school and under a lot of stress from that and, this coming up year I have a great deal taking place. Have had this sleeping problem for a couple of months now and I need to get back to where I was. HELP!!!! The Dr you will need to see is a neurologist. But you must go to your regular internist first because most insurance companies require that. He will then send you to the specialist who will then send you to a sleep clinic or sleep lab where you will do a sleep study. Good Luck. A lot of people have your problem and it can be fixed. Source(s): I work for these kinds of Drs A Psychiatrist or a Therapist would help. Sounds to me like you also should go and see a loung-specialist, it could be that you have breathing problems while you麓re asleep. That麓s what麓s the usual cause of feeling still tired in the morning and lack of energy. He can help you by testing your sleeping phases and maybe having you using a breathing mask at night times. Don麓t worry about the looks, you just wear it while you sleep and you麓ll feel great the next morning. My son has a sleeping disorder it could be depression or you could just need some stress management. i would tend to head in the direction of stress management. i think a change in diet, some exercise, and learning to maximize your time so you realize you have lots of time for everything would help get you back on track. if you go to your md they should be able to recommend a specialist for you. Call you local hospital and/or university and see if they have, or know of any Sleep Disorder Clinics. paramedic |
