How bad is it to go on birth control if you've smoked for 3 years?

Ok, I'm 14, I've been smoking(no joke, sadly) for 3 years, and I'm going on birth control soon.
My mom had to take birth control around the same age, because it's genetic on my mom's side of the family for seriously unbearable, un-tolerable cramps during periods, with a really heavy flow for the entirety of the period.
Now, we don't have a history of blood clots, and my mom smoked while on birth control(and started smoking) around the same age as me and never got a blood clot.
Are there any other side effects or such things I should worry about?

Also, I smoke around a pack (king size) a day, maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

The pill does nothing for cramps. That is a myth. I know because I have been on the pill for 14 years and it has done nothing for them.

Take meds for them instead like PMS meds or Midol. You'll live longer unless you stop smoking now. Just because your mom did not die of a blood clot, doesn't mean you won't.

=====>You CAN live with bad cramps. I did at your age. The fact that your doctor is even prescribing the pill for you when you smoke says that he is a bad doctor because most doctors would never prescribe the pill to someone who smokes because of the high probability you will die of a clot, stroke, or other cardiac event. History or not.
Go to another doctor for a second opinion, I doubt he/she will give you the pill.
I would choose cramps over dieing early. But then again, you'll die earlier from the result of smoking alone.

At least quit smoking, you'll live longer. My mom did.

they say not to smoke while you on birth control because it increase the risks of a stroke heartattack etc. but i been on the pill for about 4 years and i smoked the whole time and i smoke about a pack a day and nothing has happened to me..if you are that concerned the best bet would be to quit smoking..

You need to quit smoking

Stroke, and heart attack but then again you are causing more damage smoking so I say go for it !!!
