How much smoking can be considered safe in women?

i smoke occasionally... as in whenver i am with friends..
i jus want to know if smoking 2-5 times in a month is very harmful or sumthing...

Smoking is Harmful .PERIOD

Smoking in any amount is harmful. The longer you smoke the more nicotine you will start to need. Quit totally now before you get addicted.

All smoking is harmful, in either sex. You never know which bit of tar is the carcinogen that will kill you.

smoking is never good. ever.

None

Male or female, smoking is never safe!

Even though you only smoke 2-5 times in a month, you're still putting yourself at risk for lung cancer and all the other diseases that are a result of smoking in the future.

PUT DOWN THOSE CANCER STICKS!

That's the best you can do.

no amt of smoking is safe.

No smoking is safe.

Well, less is better. None is best. But it is worse to be a pack and a half per day smoker than a "2-5 times per month" smoker.

But, "NONE" is the best and safest!

I heard somewhere that smoking one cigarrette a week is just as bad as smoking 20. I'm not sure how true that is, but STOP. It is VERY harmful! Stop while you still can.

I am a smoker, and am trying very very hard to quit. I started off with one smoke once in a blue mood, it went on to once in 2 days or odd something like that and then before i knew it was 2 in a day and today its at least 2 each time i have to smoke which goes to about 15-18 smokes a day.

Its not about if its a guy or a lady smoking, the point is about smoking a cigarette. You dont quit it while you can, trust me it can be a committment for a life time.

Lets go to the time where at some point of time, you have to make a committment of your lifetime. You meet this great guy who "unfortunately" does not smoke and does not like people who smoke... what do you do ???? You will notice people who smoke are the only people standing close to you, while the non-smokers who may be actually much much better people are trying hard to put a space between you and them.

Let me put it this way, smoking will only leave a stink in your mouth, a stink in your body odour and will stink all your relationships.

NOW YOU DECIDE !!!!!

hi this is sagar
i say u dat smoking once is also harmfull because For most smokers, the tobacco smoke is more dangerous to their health than the nicotine. Long-term inhalation of tobacco smoke exposes every cell of your body to powerful chemicals that can cause cancer and cell mutations, and that ultimately cause tobacco-related illnesses. Tobacco smoke from cigarettes, cigars, and pipes contains over 4,000 chemical compounds and breathable, suspended particles. Some of the chemicals present in tobacco smoke have been proven to cause cancer and increase the risk of birth defects. These include ammonia, arsenic, benzene, cadmium, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, lead, mercury, naphthalene, urethane, and a variety of nitrosamines (potent human carcinogens). Formaldehyde, ammonia, urethane, and naphthalene are contained in household products with labels telling you to avoid inhaling them. There are also radioactive chemicals in tobacco smoke, like polonium-210. So far, over 40 chemicals have been found in tobacco smoke that are known human carcinogens. This means that these chemicals have been proven to cause cancer not only in laboratory animals, but also in people. These chemicals make smoking such high risk to the health of any smoker.
The carbon monoxide found in tobacco smoke is the same gas that you find in your car's exhaust system and a faulty gas heater in your home. It is a colorless and odorless gas that interferes with your body's ability to use the oxygen that you inhale to fuel your cells. Normally, oxygen binds to your red blood cells by attaching to a molecule called hemoglobin. When you smoke, carbon monoxide attaches to your hemoglobin instead of oxygen, and deactivates these red blood cells from fueling your body. Eventually, the carbon monoxide falls off the hemoglobin, but it can be replaced if you are still smoking a tobacco product. Up to ten percent of your body's hemoglobin can be deactivated when you smoke. This is how smoking can affect your stamina and athletic ability. Increased levels of carbon monoxide in your blood also means less oxygen to your brain. Fortunately, the body is able to eliminate most of the carbon monoxide quickly, and within a few days of quitting smoking, most people feel more energetic and less shortness of breath.
Tar is a dark substance that delivers nicotine to the lungs, and it also contains the other chemicals discussed above. When tobacco smoke is inhaled, most of the tar is retained for a while in the mucous lining of the lungs and then mostly distributed throughout the body. After years of smoking, tar can collect in the lung and cause tobacco-related illnesses. If you drink alcohol and smoke, more of the carcinogens in the smoke are dissolved into the bloodstream because alcohol is a very effective solvent.

The tobacco companies know that many smokers are concerned about the health effects of smoking, and they produced "low tar/low nicotine" cigarettes to appeal to health-concerned smokers. Many smokers believe that these cigarettes are a "safe" alternative to quitting smoking. However, the truth is that there is no "safe" cigarette. There are no current regulations for the use of the word "light" in a cigarette's name, and "light" could mean that the cigarette weighs less than the regular brand, or that the nicotine content is only slightly less than the average one milligram nicotine level of the average regular cigarette. Also, many smokers tend to compensate for lower levels of tar and nicotine by smoking more cigarettes per day, or by inhaling more deeply and intensely than with regular cigarettes. Unless you smoke "ultra low tar/nicotine" cigarettes (cigarettes with less than 0.1 milligram), you cannot reduce your exposure to the risks of cigarette smoking by changing brands.

'smoking is injurious to health' have not u read this in ads or on the packet of the cigarette . there is no limit barrier. even the smell of cigarette coming out of another person's smoking is fatal. it is also surprising how your husband or the family members r allowing u to smoke. r they your enemies !

As a woman and a smoker, stop it. Its dumb and it takes years and years for your body to recover. Dont get addicted. Why do you think most people in fires die or are treated for smoke inhilation?? Its bad for you.

It is never safe.. I have struggled with smoking on and off for years. I am FINALLY nicotine free.. I am a non-smoker and will never smoke again.
It is NOT healthy nor is it safe..... every time you inhale you pollute your body and lungs..

There is an acute increase in arterial stiffness after smoking even one cigarette in both chronic and non-smokers.

Moreover, adverse haemodynamic effects have probably been underestimated in young chronic smokers, say researchers at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland and St. James's Hospital, Dublin, Ireland.

This is suggested by higher aortic systolic blood pressure and greater arterial stiffness, in part due to reduced pulse pressure amplification and increased arterial wave reflection, they say.

Although brachial artery pressure waveform was abnormal in smokers, the effect of smoking on the aortic pressure waveform in both smokers and non-smokers, particularly in younger people, was not known. This led the researchers to compare the acute and chronic effects of smoking on large artery properties in 185 healthy young smokers and non-smokers aged 22 卤 5 years).

Forty one chronic smokers for age, height, weight and sex were matched with 116 non-smokers.

Applanation tonometry was used to measure the augmentation index, a measure of arterial wave reflection in the aorta.

The researchers also compared augmentation index, aortic pulse wave velocity and blood pressure in 28 subjects, of whom 11 were chronic smokers, both before smoking one cigarette (nicotine content 1.2 mg.) and 15 minutes afterwards.

Although brachial blood pressure was not different in chronic smokers and non-smokers, aortic systolic blood pressure was higher in chronic smokers (101 卤 8 mm Hg) than in non-smokers (97 卤 9 mm Hg). Likewise augmentation index was higher in chronic smokers (0.7 卤 13) than in non-smokers (-5.7 卤 14). On the other hand, aortic-brachial pulse pressure amplification was less in chronic smokers (13.7 卤 8 mm Hg) than in non-smokers (17.7 卤 5 mm Hg). These effects were seen in both sexes.

In both groups, smoking significantly and acutely raised brachial blood pressure, aortic blood pressure, augmentation index and pulse wave velocity. The researchers saw no changes after sham smoking.

NONE!!!!!!!!!!!

smoking is bad for health for both men and women

just don't smoke and
you will be safe.

stop thinking about it..... even one is dangerous..

I would go with none! Look at facts provided by the American Cancer Society...
there was an estimated 678,060 new cases of any type of cancer in the US
there was an estimated 270,100 deaths caused by cancer in the US
In 2003, nearly 41,000 women died of lung & bronchus cancer alone.

Those statistics for just CANCER should honestly make any one looking at this stop smoking. My friends tease me because I call it expensive suicide. But it honestly is! You pay so much for cigarettes, only for them to cause cancer and other diseases that will cost you thousands of dollars! As well as your life in some cases!

NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE

Any type of smoking comes with risks. Remember the key to a healthily lifestyle is moderation. I think you have to be careful however if you are on any type of birth control. There is an increased risk of blood clots. So be careful and remember moderation. Hope this helps!
