Does Smoking affect Puberty?

Hi there, Im 15 years old and smoke occasionally, im not addicted but i have one now and then on the weekend to relax myself.
I havn't started my period yet and its getting me down im just wondering can smoking before you start your period affect your cycle at all.
I really want my period to come i feel left out theres younger girls i know who have started theres, will it come soon?
Ive been getting discharge for 2 years and the odd bit of blood every 8 months is this a normal sign someone help me please im getting depressed over it

Yes, it affects it drastically, not to mention a single smoke means you're a smoker, I beg of you, quit while you're young and it's easier to become healthy again. And FYI, the chemicals in smokes don't calm you down, they only make you calm for a minute or two, then jittery.

Yes I guess it could have something to do with it. But also if you are very active or skinny it could also affect your period. Don't feel bad though. You really don't want your period, they are annoying and make you feel gross. I always felt the same way, then when I finally got it I was like, "Hmm, I don't want it anymore you can have it back!" lol. I didn't start until the summer before my freshman year. I was late too.

No, it doesn't affect whether or not you have started your period. Being malnourished will cause it, but no amount of smoking will. It is probably just normal for you to start later. But make sure you don't have PCOS - do you have a dark ring around your neck, and are you overweight? These are signs of PCOS, and if you have them, you should see an OB/GYN.

People are telling you that smoking could cause it just to scare you into not smoking. Shame on them for lying to you while not pointing out that PCOS could be the cause!

Smoking does not affect puberty but your weight does. If you are really skinny (anorexic) or really fat, it can delay your menses.
